LOUDWIRE on the new Seether Album

“Seether have just set Aug. 28 as the release date for their eighth studio album, Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum (translation: If You Want Peace, Prepare for War). Leading the charge for the 13-track record is a music video for “Dangerous,” the first new single.

“Three years ago, when the South African group issued Poison the Parish, they made a conscious effort to return to outright heaviness. On “Dangerous,” Seether take a step back from the battering riffs and lean into an alt-metal direction in this catchy albeit despondent anthem.

Blabbermouth on the upcoming Seether Album & Single “Dangerous”

“The new album’s haunting, unforgettable “Dangerous” is an instant standout. While the band prefers to leave ‘Dangerous’ open to interpretation, lyrics like, ‘It’s so dangerous all this blamelessness / and I feel like I lost all the good I’ve known’ are a passionate and pointed indictment of self and society at large.’Beg’, where Morgan snarls, ‘See hope fading out of your eyes / This time the pain is going to feel unreal,’ is similarly unrelenting…

“The push-pull on “Si Vis Pacem, Para Bellum” is as dynamic as it is memorable as Morgan brings his intimate singer-songwriter sensibility to the band’s heavy rock grooves. Drawing on influences including the dark and raw honesty of grunge’s epic guitar attack and the South African underground punk and metal that Morgan (and Stewart) grew up on, SEETHER’s sonic brew is unmistakable and timeless.”

Soulfly’s 10 Studio Album Coming Soon!

10897799_592323477568471_4775090640982536841_n

Soulfly is in the studio as I write this. We’re working on the new album, their 10th studio album.

Armed with Max Cavalera’s four-stringed guitars, unmistakable growl and instantly recognizable riffage, the muddy tones and constant rhythmic bounce of SOULFLY has retained its gritty edge while pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in metal. In the studio is lead guitarist Marc Rizzo (who has been in SOULFLY almost as long as Max was in SEPULTURA), bassist Tony Campos (Static X, Ministry, Prong) and Max’s 21 year-old Zyon, who splits his time between drumming in LODY KONG and SOULFLY.

Stay tuned for updates, photos of the musicians at work, and of course the music…

Metal Hammer is talking about the new Soulfly album:

“Soulfly have started recording their upcoming 10th album.

“The band–led by Max Cavalera–are working with Slayer, Hatebreed and Sum 41 producer Matt Hyde at his California studio on the new record.

“Cavalera’s wife Gloria posted a picture on Facebook of the band with Hyde, along with the caption: ‘Day one in the studio with Matt Hyde. With Marc Rizzo, Monte Conner, Tony Campos and Zyon Cavalera.’

“The album will be the follow-up to 2013’s Savages.”
